Apart from during the summer months, the Algarve's climate is characterised by mild temperatures, which, together with a high sun index and low rain levels, allow tourism throughout the year.
It's the Algarve's moderate and gentle climate that permits tourism during the winter (both holidays for the elderly and sporting holidays). Due to its geographic relief and position the Algarve is influenced climatically as much by the European continent as by North Africa, the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean weather.
The maximum temperatures in the Region vary, throughout the year, between 15 and 31°C and the temperature does not drop below zero in the winter. This is why tourists from Northern European countries increasingly seek out the Algarve, where they can enjoy hours of mild sunshine. |
